How old is the website for your business? When was the last time you updated it?

If you’re sat here thinking ‘should I have my website redesigned and rebuilt?’ then the answer is probably yes. Starting the process to have a website design built is never easy and can be frustrating, do you have the budget? Which agency shall I use?

I’ve written this blog to try and give you a guide on how to approach a website design rebuild for your company, you will learn whether your site needs a redesign, how much a redesign would cost, and how to make managing and launching a redesign project headache-free.

Firstly why would you need to have a website rebuilt for your business, well the list could be as long as your arm but to simplify the list here are a few main reasons;

In most cases, your site will benefit from a redesign if it features one or more of the following:

• Unresponsive design: Doesn’t display on all devices, like tablets and mobile phones.

• Old or outdated design: Decreases a user’s trust in your site, brand, and offerings.

• Repeated user complaints: Users are not having a great experience on your site.

• Low conversions or sales: Nobody is buying from you basically.

How much does it usually cost for a website design and development?

Like any web design project, prices vary depending on your individual business requirements and often depend on the website itself. The average rates for redesigns range from £1000 to well the sky is the limit, usually within my agency between 3-10k.

For the most accurate prices a meeting or discovery day can help determine the investment costs for a website design. Even if you’re months away from committing, a quote can help your business get an accurate estimate for how much redesigning your website will cost.

A Forty3 Media website design discovery day is based on a workshop and a series of questions to go through including:

• Business introduction

• Old website audit

• New website discover

• Budget

• Content

• Technical Requirements

• Maintenance

• Digital Marketing

• Strategy

After a website design discovery meeting where we would gather as much information as possible combined with a marketing and business strategy we would of developed a brief and a clear goal and vision, this clear goal and vision will enable us to steer a web development in the right direction. It is then all down to the process, a well-defined process translate into a high-performing website, we break the website design process into sections:

• Goal Identification - working with the client to determine what goals the sites needs to fulfil and what the purpose is.

• Scope Definition - once we know the sites goals, we can define the scope of the project; what pages and features the site requires to fulfil the goal and the timeline for building those out.

• Sitemap & Wireframe - with the scope well-defined, we can start digging into the sitemap, defining how the content and features we defined in scope definition will interrelate.

• Content Creation - now that we have the big picture of the site in mind we can start creating content for the individual pages, always keeping search engine optimisation in mind to help keep pages focused on a single topic.

• Visual Elements - with the site architecture and one content in place, we can start working on the visual brand. Depending on the client, this may already be well-defined, but you might also be defining the visual style from the ground.

• Testing - by now, you’ve got all your pages and defined how they display to the sites visitor, so its time to make sure it all works. Combine manual browsing of the site on a variety of devices with automated site crawlers to identify everything from user experience issues to simple broken links.

• Launch - once everything’s working beautifully its time to plan and execute your sites launch! This should include planning both launch timing and communication strategies; i.e when will you launch and how will you let the world know?

Conclusion

If you are thinking of having a website design rebuild it is important to pick the right design agency who have your best interests at heart. It’s important we spend time together asking questions and listening, this way we can present to you the solutions to your problems according to the answers you give. We then can understand and diagnose, the answers to these questions help paint a picture of you and your business and lets us understand your world.
